Unbelievable! Jack is one month old today...

And yes, it's more than enough to make Jayne cry... literally! In fact Adam still has to talk in 'weeks' not 'months' because she can't believe how quickly time is flying.

Anyway, here are some pics of our little man's one month anniversary, taken earlier today. They show a mere handful of some of his expressions...

Oooh, I love lookin' out the window I do!

Why is Mummy always sticking that clicky thing in my face? Oh well, I'd better strike a pose...

OMG! What was that?

C'mon eyes, focus!

You know when someone waves and you wave back, even tho you've no idea who the heck they are...

No, I did not do a stinky (well, I might have).

Look at my lovely doggy feet! Grandma Thompson - have I grown since the first time you saw me in my bouncer?

Yawn! I'm soooo tired.

Double yawn! So very tired.

Alright. I'm done.

Grandad Lock is put to good use

We know it's John & Rosemary's vacation, but Adam had a few jobs he wanted his Dad's help with... no rest for the wicked eh John?!

First up was clearing undergrowth and levelling out some top soil that we'd saved from the patio extension, oh yes, and a spot of minor tree surgery to remove a few broken branches from the trees in our back garden. (no pics sorry). Only one hairy moment to report - Adam was at the top of the step ladders reaching up to saw off a branch when he realised his Dad was chatting away pointing out something or other... BUT what about that steadying hand on the ladder??!! He's a Daddy now John... we don't want him broken! ;)

Next was getting the treadmill in from the garage to the office to help Jayne shift some post-pregnancy pounds (and a few pre-pregnancy ones too!) in the air conditioned cool of the house. No mean feat since, in our wisdom and as we're neither of us particularly teeny and toasty, we have a full size heavy duty gym treadmill... and it weighs a ton! Despite the numerous times we had all measured the machine to ensure it would fit in the office Rosemary was convinced it wouldn't fit... I think it was her 'encouragement' that was key to us getting it in despite the difficulty of the task! ;) But seriously, we were quite sure it would fit in the allotted space, the challenge was actually shifting it and shuffling it, mostly on end, around the corners and doorways. Sometime later (and only one near miss on an ankle injury!) and the treadmill was safely installed...

... now all Jayne needs is the all clear after her check up at the hospital next week so she can get treading. :)

Meanwhile, Rosemary/Granny Lock enjoyed some cuddles with Jack...

Lastly (so far!) John was up for the task of planting out a few new day lilies and daisies which he and Adam had bought for the previously mentioned and nicely levelled bit of ground at the back of our garden. He also made a mulch pathway and scattered some Vermont wild flower seed back there so hopefully there will be a nice wild flower garden for Jack to enjoy soon.

Between this and all the plant buying and planting we did with Jayne's Mum and Sister the front and back gardens are looking better than ever. Good job y'all! ;)

Jack goes out in his new stroller

We already had a stroller but we had also been planning to get an all terrain one to deal with outings beyond the shopping mall. Generously, Granny and Grandad Lock bought it for Jack - thankyou!

Here he is enjoying his first outing in his Phil & Ted Sport...

Daddy checks the P&T's offroad capabilities on the hair-raising grass verge around Heatherfield (!?)

I think Granny and Grandad were a bit surprised to learn one of the main selling points of this stroller is that it is the only inline buggy available that can take two children at once... ;) Teehee - no news yet (obviously!) but let's just say we haven't been put off having more...

Jack meets Granny and Grandad Lock

All too soon it was time for Jayne's Mum and Sister to go back to the UK. :( Tears were shed as we all said our goodbyes but it hopefully won't be too long before we see everyone again. In fact, Jack's first transatlantic flight back to UK is already planned for November!

We had two whole days on our own before Adam's folks arrived to meet their grandson so spirits were soon raised once more.

Here's the moment John and Rosemary each got their first cuddle with Jack.

Jack and Granny Lock check each other out :)

Grandad Lock gets to grips with Jack...

... There, now let's get a proper look at you!

Thank you Fletcher Allen

An outstanding job was done by all the Fletcher Allen medical staff who looked after us during Jayne's pregnancy, labor, delivery and recovery. There were certainly a few scary moments but all in all it was an incredible experience, truly awesome and as close to ideal as possible under the circumstances.

As a teeny tiny token of our thanks we had some custom cookies made at Klingers (our favourite local bakery) and Adam delivered the little bundles to all that had helped us deliver ours.

A few of those marvellous folk have our blog details so, if you're reading, THANK YOU again. :)

Jack goes to the lake

While Katy was here we thought we'd have a quick walk around the lake front. It was pretty hot so we didn't linger too long.

What a beautiful day

Little Jack still sleeping

Safi had a quick dunk in the lake

Later that afternoon Jack had some nice playtime with Aunty Katy, when she could tear her eyes off the TV! Teeheee... well, Eddie Izzard is pretty funny. ;)

Jack goes to the grocery store

Okay, so perhaps not all that very exciting BUT it was Jayne's first time driving since Jack was born AND first trip out without Daddy as well as Jack and Aunty Katy's first trip to one of our local grocery stores! So you see, a bigger deal than you might at first think! ;)

Getting ready to go

And we're off...

Made it safely to the garage...

Mummy straps Jack into the Jeep

Byeeee!
A successful trip was had. Our little poppet slept all through it until we reached the check out... then he squeaked a bit... realised we were still shopping (women eh?!)... so dropped off again until we got home. :)
The only down side was that we realised our car seat doesn't fit onto the shopping cart/trolley... pants! This will mean that 1) Daddy will have to come help with the grocery shopping or 2) we'll have to do only small grocery shops since Jack and his seat will be taking up most of the trolley or 3) Jack will have to be Moby'd...

Jack with Mummy, Grandma and Aunty Katy... can you spot Daddy tho??

Jack's first play mat

Thank you Grandma and Grandad Thompson for my first play mat (along with all the the other lovely stuff you got and have done for me and Mummy).

Lots of love from Jack

P.S. Here are some pics of you opening it up Grandma, and you and I having a first play together. The jiggly elephant still gives me lots of kisses from Grandma everyday :)

Some more firsts for Jack... wraps, baths and parties

Jack goes in the Moby wrap for the first time...

There, snug as a bug! Grandma T doesn't look too convinced...

Never fear, the wrap is still holding strong!

Jack's first bath at home...

Daddy takes Jack to the bathroom (he's a nudey boy under that blanket!)

Jack wonders who that handsome little chap is!

Jack's not so impressed with the hair washing this time

Mummy perseveres with the little wriggler

Aren't you done yet Jack wonders

All done. Dad dries Jack off and quickly gets the diaper back on!

Jack's first party...

American tradition says the baby shower should have happened before Jack arrived, but in Brit-style we wanted to wait until he was safely here (and until Jayne's Mum and Sister were in town) before celebrating. Luckily for us, Fran and the ladies who work with Adam went into full swing to make sure Jayne didn't need to do a thing. Jayne's Mum also did a great job of cleaning the floors and bathrooms etc. THANK YOU!

Katy was scribe to keep track of all the lovely gifts Jack received. Jayne was overwhelmed.
