Time to go home!

To be honest, it's quite difficult to know where night and day ended and began during our stay in hospital, and the detail has certainly been lost in a blur of all the goings on described in the last post. I think the day after Jack's arrival was mostly dedicated to feeding and sleeping, the highlight of his second night was the heel prick for routine screening tests and Jack's first hearing test.

We were all very ready to be discharged from hospital by Wednesday, and here are a few pictures we snapped as we prepared for home...

Filling out the form for Jack's birth certificate

All packed up - we were in a bit of a rush in the end as a new 'roomie' was due to be brought in to our room and we decided it would be best to get out of there before that happened. All we needed now was to get the final doctor's sign-off...

The wait gave us a chance to tackle Jack's first change into proper clothes...

... Jack is sporting his 'Dad's Team' onesie for the ride home from hospital.

There, all ready and still time to get a picture of the happy family (yes, we were still waiting to be discharged)

We evacuated the room and loaded everything up onto a cart, including Jack! We had to wait a few more minutes for the final discharge note and then we were FREE! :)

Needless to say Jayne cried all the way home. Happy tears of course. (Jack slept all the way and missed the running commentary from Dad of all the things we were passing). It was so strange to finally be driving home with our precious baby - the roads were the same, the trees and views were the same and yet everything was so very different... in a new and exciting, but very overwhelming and hormonally-charged emotional way.

We arrive home and Adam gets Jack from the car. (Yes, that's Grandma T's left arm in the shot)

Here he is!

Over the threshold into Jack's house!

Safi says hi to the new family member. She'd been given one of Jack's blankets two days ago to get used to the smell of him and was thankfully pretty relaxed about the whole thing, as we'd expected. She's such a good dog.

Flowers for Jayne and a balloon for Jack from Adam/Daddy
