Bonjour from Quebec

Let's just start by saying how strange crossing the border between USA and Canada on I-89 is... One minute it's all "Have a nice day y'all" and the next it's "Bonjour! Ca va? Et continue toutes droites". Good job we're so fluent en francais...

So, we arrived here in good time for Adam's meeting after only one slight detour and no real need to try any of our Brit-speak French - probably a relief for all.

Having said that, Adam was overheard by his good wife in the gas station saying, "Bonjour... uh... excusez moi... errrm ... do you take le plasteeek?" in his best French accent. Not entirely unlike his favourite, "wat ees zees?" to the waiter in the White Room restaurant at Seaham Hall, or his "Ou es le shimanay (aka: the chimney)?" to the tour guide in the Loire Valley, France - both complete with full hand waving antics. ;)

Anyway, Adam has been to Quebec before so while he's busy with his meeting and presentation Jayne is on a mission to discover old Quebec, in only 2 hours and with no navigator or interpreter... could be interesting. Especially with the brute of a car rental we have. Anyone seen a Nissan Armada? No? Well it's seriously HUGE. Let's hope no cunning manouvres are required - it could be disastrous.

Hopefully we'll report more later...

Bonjour,
Jayne, speaking from experience,
the best way of seeing old Quebec
is to park your vehicle and have
a trip around in a horse and carriage it is well worth the
cost - you get all the history
explained as well.
