The VASS end of season awards party

Today was the last day of skiing at Mount Ellen. This side of the mountain is now closed for the summer :( but at least Lincoln Peak will be staying open until the snow is properly gone.

I take back what I said about the snow melt in my last post... it seems we're headed for a few final snow showers this week. Yeay! Anyway...

VASS held it's end of season awards party in the snow outside the Mt Ellen base lodge so we both went to Sugarbush for a couple of hours, tho' we didn't have time to get in any free skiing. [very bad planning].

Eric introduces the awards

Jayne scooped the 'Mid-Week Master' award, and was also happy to share an award for 'Furthest Distance Travelled' with Cheryl, a fellow Brit and, now, very good friend whom she met through the organisation.

In her own grand style Cheryl also received an award for being the 'Snowboard Guru' of the year. Hooraah for us foreign girlies! ;)

Eric Bonin has been coordinating the programme and looking after us volunteers for the past 4 years but this season is to be his last with Vermont Adaptive. He's heading off to start a new job in Utah so, of course, we couldn't let him go quietly...

Eric looking remarkably pleased with his new outfit... nice!

Since the winter season is drawing to a close here are some shots that Cheryl took of various VASS lessons over the past weeks. Click on each shot to see it larger then click 'back' on your browser to return to our blog:

Russ and cherylCheryl and Russ - Russ is a pro who after many years of regular ski school came to VASS. He says the clients are a lot more grateful! He's given Cheryl and I some good ski tips too - we love Russ!
